With the loss of his father weighing heavily on his mind, Johnny Cavazos, a businessman and property owner, found himself unable to sleep and decided to take a late-night drive to check on some of his properties.
Driving around in his father’s truck was a sentimental experience. He had a few of his father’s possessions in the vehicle, which made him feel like he was right there with him. He was reminded of the amazing man his father was.
At one of his properties, Cavazos found some unwanted debris, so he began clearing the garbage and putting it in the back of his truck. During the cleaning process, he noticed a homeless man approaching. He expected the man to ask for money, but instead, he offered to help Cavazos clean up.
While the two worked, the homeless man shared that he had been living at a local church. He had been working a series of odd jobs without pay and had no food or water. Touched by the man’s story, Cavazos took him to a Whataburger for a bite to eat.
After Cavazos purchased the man’s meal, the pair became better acquainted.
Cavazos told the man that his truck belonged to his father, and showed him the funeral card he kept in it. After taking a look at the photo on the card, the homeless man realized that he knew Cavazos’ father and mother.
