It’s pretty safe to say that Russia is a land of extremes.
Judging by some of the wacky stories that make news over here in the States, Russians don’t do anything halfway. It’s all or nothing. However, as you might imagine, that tendency can go a little too far. Take, for example, the latest addition to the Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow.
That stylish “K” stands for Kalashnikov, the legendary gunmaker of the AK-47 assault rifle.
Kalashnikov recently opened a store selling souvenirs in the busy airport, and it’s obviously causing a stir.
The store is stocked with shirts, jackets, and hats bearing the company logo.
Oh, and you can buy plastic replicas of their famous guns.
Obviously, they’re not equipped with the orange tip that typically denotes a replica gun in the United States.
They look pretty dang real to me.
I’m not sure if I can think of a worse idea than walking around a busy airport with a replica assault weapon, but maybe that’s just me.
Despite the shocking nature of the items they carry, the store has proven to be a big hit with travelers.

I don’t even care if they’re fake. I just have a bad feeling about this. All we can do is chalk it up to cultural difference, I guess.
