Young Man Surprises The Heroic Cop Who Saved Him From Drowning As A Child

It was the summer of 1997 when Officer James Poole pulled a five-year-old kid from the bottom of a Columbus, Ohio, swimming pool. If it weren’t for his heroic act, 24-year-old Christopher Jones wouldn’t be alive today.

Jones never stopped thinking about the officer who saved his life. When he recently came across a photo of Poole on the Columbus Division of Police Facebook page, he knew he had to get in touch with the department. Immediately, officers reached out and helped him plan a heartwarming surprise.

Thinking he was doing an on-camera interview about his role as a police officer, Poole never saw this coming. When the officer turned to face the stranger who tapped him on the shoulder, Jones said to him, “Do you remember me? About 1997, you pulled a five-year-old out of a swimming pool, saved his life.” That’s when it dawned on Poole.

Watch their touching reunion in the video below.

It’s great to see uplifting stories like this one.

If an officer has ever gone out of his or her way to help you, try to reach out if you can. They appreciate being remembered for their service more than most of us will ever understand.
