This teacher from Oklahoma knows the bittersweet feeling of the last day of school all too well.
Educators who lead classes full of precocious little ones have one of the toughest, most important jobs in the world. After all, shaping young minds should never be taken lightly. Sure, first graders can get a little weepy and stir up quite a bit of drama in the classroom when they get cranky, but they can also bring teachers so much joy.
Sha-Ree’ Castlebury has been teaching for five years, and every time she has to send students on their way, she feels a little twinge of sadness.
This year, she decided to commemorate her beloved class by letting them do something seriously adorable to her dress.
While students taking to pretty white dresses with markers would normally sound like a nightmare, Castlebury invited her kids to do exactly that.
Together, the little ones emblazoned the dress from collar to hemline with original artwork, making their favorite teacher a one-of-a-kind dress she can rock whenever she starts missing them!
Castlebury told BuzzFeed that she’s been absolutely overwhelmed by the positive response.
“I had no idea my idea would ever leave my Facebook page when I was posting it,” she explained. Although she greatly appreciates the words of encouragement and support, what she loves most is the fact that she now has a beautiful reminder of her wonderful students that she can hang in her closet.

She now plans on having all of her students decorate dresses before they make their way into the big, bad world of second grade. She will be wearing this one on the first day of school next year and to open house to let students and parents know just how much she loves her kids and her incredible job.
