The worst thing I’ve ever had to go to a doctor for was breaking my arm when I was a little girl.
At the time, it seemed like the most awful thing that could happen to me. It was incredibly painful — not to mention really gross to look at. But after seeing the video below, I’m eternally grateful that I only had a broken bone, and not something crawling around inside my EYE.
When a doctor examined this poor woman’s eye, what he found was nothing short of horrifying. Get ready for some serious nightmare fuel. You might want to have some cute dog pictures at the ready to cleanse your mental palate.
Why, just why?!
That, my horrified friends, is a nematode, or roundworm.
You can get these babies by eating meat that isn’t thoroughly cooked or from water contaminated by animal or human feces. But in the case of this woman, it’s most likely that she was bitten by an insect that transmitted the worm larva to her. When that happens, they can burrow through tissue and end up in some not-so-great places.
Well, that was fun and all, but I think I need to get going. One thing’s for sure — after seeing that, I’m never going to look at eyes the same way again.
