Jenni Brennan wasn’t looking to adopt a baby, though, and never imagined that something like this could happen to her family. However, when she received an email from a stranger one day, she realized that parents and hopeful adopters alike can fall victim to these kinds of scams.
Brennan had a blog in which she shared photos of her two sons, but she quickly changed her mind about its privacy after she read the email.
The sender told her someone was using her nine-month-old son, Jacob’s picture in a Craigslist adoption post.

While there aren’t any statistics on exactly how many people are scammed, this kind of fraud is becoming more and more common.
