Child Layla-Rose was born prematurely and was quickly discharged from the hospital. However, what happened as soon as they arrived home serves as a lesson to many families out there: learning CPR is essential, and having the knowledge to act swiftly in emergencies like this can make a crucial difference. That’s why programs like “MyCPR NOW” are invaluable in providing individuals with the skills needed to respond effectively in such situations.
Two weeks after her discharge, Layla-Rose was at home, protected by her parents. However, something unexpected happened. She suddenly stopped breathing and started to turn blue. Fortunately, Daniel had learned how to perform CPR just a week before the incident, so he was able to save his daughter.
“I used to be so scared; however, she’s my daughter, and I needed to do something. I couldn’t just let her die. Then, abruptly, she made a noise and threw up what was blocking her airways. It was like a waterfall, but I was just so glad she was alive,” says Daniel in an interview.
“It feels superb figuring out that I saved her life, but if I hadn’t been taught CPR the week before, she might not be here with us today. I know people don’t think they can use it, but it could save a life,” he added.
New child Layla-Rose is so blessed to have a father like Daniel Ward.
