There are plenty of urban explorers out there who are constantly investigating new and bizarre places and uncovering the weirdest things. However, very few of them match up with the skills of an anonymous explorer who goes by the nickname Freaktography. While there are so many photo sets of his we could show you, today we want to dive into this creepy exploration of an abandoned nursing home in upstate New York…
While the exact location of this nursing home is a mystery, Freaktography tells us it was built about 100 years ago and originally served as an area hospital.
The building originally took up an entire city block and was renovated over time to allow for more patients.
During the 1960s, the facility was converted from a hospital to a nursing home.
However, in the 1990s, the facility ran into financing issues and was forced to close its doors.
For the last 20 years, it has sat abandoned and alone as nature has slowly tried to reclaim the land.
Locals have been trying for years to get the building designated as a historic landmark to save it from the wrecking ball.
However, so far at least, their attempts have failed.
While the fate of the building is tied up in bureaucracy, scrappers have taken hammers and axes to the building, stripping it of most of its valuable metal.
