I’m sure we would all love to refurbish our homes, but not many of us can afford the cost of expensive new furniture.
Even if you’re just adding one statement piece, it can get seriously pricey. But as one woman shows us, you don’t have to break your bank to have a cool light fixture — you just need a tree branch.
Blogger and interior designer Magdalena Krzywon and her husband really wanted a stylish ceiling light, but didn’t want to spend a fortune on one at the store. They decided to make their own using a fallen branch, instead. The resulting chandelier is surprisingly stunning! Get your branches ready, folks, because you’re going to love this.
When her husband and daughter found a fallen tree branch in the woods, they knew it was perfect.
So they took it home and got right to work on removing the bark.
Their daughter was an awesome little helper.
When the branch was bark-free, her husband sanded it down.
And to prevent worms from destroying the branch, they treated it with woodworm killer.
Then came the time to hang it — they used screw-in hooks and fishing line to hold it up.
Next, they cut up fabric cables for the lighting.
They fixed the ends into porcelain bulb holders.
The other ends were attached to the ceiling.
For a unique look, they twisted the cables around the branches.
And after twisting vintage-style Edison bulbs in, they were good to go.
Who knew a branch could look so beautiful?
