When Bernie the cow was brought to Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary in Colombia, South America, he was scared and lonely.
Before he was rescued from a dairy farm, he had been taken away from his mother at only 12 days old, and he was destined for slaughter. He didn’t have a friend in the world even after he was saved — that is, until he met a puppy named Sri Ram.
Juliana Castañeda Turner, the sanctuary’s founder, wanted to help Bernie feel more at home when he arrived, so she moved him into an area where some of the rescue dogs lived. That’s where he met his new best friend, who was also saved from neglect.
The two bonded instantly and quickly became inseparable.
They love playing together and only stop when they’re too tired to continue.
Bernie was eventually just one of the dogs.
Although they both came from terrible situations, you wouldn’t know it when you see their happy faces.
And thanks to Castañeda, they’ll be able to spend the rest of their lives together.

I am so in love right now. If you’d like to donate to the sanctuary that made Bernie and Sri Ram’s friendship possible, you can do so here.
