Amusement parks like Disneyland and Disney World are magical havens full of endless fun, but they sure generate some creepy urban legends.
Luckily, you can just ignore those kinds of stories and enjoy your favorite theme parks in blissful ignorance. But could you imagine a park where those legends sit at the helm of their business model? That’s exactly what you’ll find at Haw Par Villa, which is Singapore’s most bizarre park.
Formerly called the Tiger Balm Gardens, the park was originally built in 1937 to celebrate Chinese culture, but it turned out to be so much weirder than anticipated. Its many statues and dioramas depict very strange and disturbing scenes from Chinese legends, mythology, history, and lore. They look to me like hallucinations from a bad drug trip or things that should just say in people’s nightmares. See a few of them for yourself in the images below.
Nothing says “this is so much fun” quite like getting your organs ripped out.

Despite the creepiness, I think this place actually seems pretty cool.
