She Couldn't Have Children But Then Her Sister Said Something That Changed Her Life

Most mothers will tell you there’s no greater feeling than being pregnant with your first child.

While being a first-time parent can bring about many moments of joy, not all women are capable of giving birth. Numerous pre-existing health conditions can prevent a woman from having children. And in some cases, it may be the husband’s own health history that creates a roadblock on the path to parenthood.

There are a few alternatives to conceiving a child, such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF) or hiring a surrogate, but neither option is completely fool-proof and they’re both extremely expensive. There’s also the issue of a total stranger carrying your child. Not all surrogates have to be strangers, though. For Aimee Morrisby, an unexpected Good Samaritan kept it all in the family.

As a child, Aimee Morrisby was diagnosed with Hirschsprung disease, which is a bowel condition that can cause severe blocking in the large intestine. Over the course of her lifetime, she’s undergone over 40 surgeries for the condition.

Five years later, the pair had pretty much lost all hope of getting pregnant and giving birth. They turned to surrogacy as their last option.

That’s when Morrisby’s sister Shayna came to her rescue. During a late-night phone conversation, Shayna agreed to serve as the surrogate.

Because her sister already had two healthy children of her own, Morrisby knew that Shayna would be the perfect choice.

Shayna was impregnated with one of her sister’s frozen embryos left over from IVF treatments.

After a successful pregnancy, Morrisby was finally able to see her lifelong dream of becoming a mother come true.
