Love UFOs? Well, Then I Have Some Bad News For You — All Those Sightings Are Fake

If you’re anything like me, then you’re a firm believer in UFOs and life on other planets. Sadly, we UFO believers lead hard lives because even though we have faith, there is little to no hard evidence of UFOs actually existing.

Usually, this is where the article would take a turn and I would say, “Until now.” Sadly, it’s not that kind of article. According to a well-respected former NASA engineer, all UFO sightings are founded on falsehood.

James Oberg worked at NASA mission control in the late 1990s before becoming a space journalist and historian.

Oberg says he actually paid very little attention to UFOs until relatively recently. His scientific opinion on the matter: All sighting are fakes or tricks of the light.

The majority of UFO sightings are nothing more than “space dandruff,” or they come as a result of our human brains misunderstanding what traveling in space actually looks like.

However, Oberg isn’t seeking to dump on UFO believers. He’s more interested in figuring out what’s actually happening in these UFO videos and learning why people react the way they do to them.

So why do we humans seem to continually see UFOs when we’re looking at pictures of outer space (especially around the International Space Station)? Oberg has a unique explanation.

“Our sensory system is functioning absolutely perfectly for Earth conditions,” Oberg said. “But we’re still a local civilization. Moving beyond our neighborhood has been visually confusing.” Basically, the way we conceptualize and understand the world around us is limited to…well…our world. The same logic doesn’t necessarily apply to rationalizing how life would work in space.

Well, I am not ready to give up on the search for extraterrestrial life. However, I will admit that Oberg has a point.
