I've Never Been Jealous Of Someone's Cutting Board, But This One Is So Beautiful

For any skilled woodworker, building something like a cutting board is too easy. However, when you’re new to the wonderful world of woodworking, it just might be the perfect place to start.

Redditor Thats_Debatable wanted to try his hand at creating a cutting board that would make things easier (and way prettier) in the kitchen. Since this was his first time attempting such a design, he opted for an end-grain look.

In just a few easy steps, Thats_Debatable went from being a complete novice to a total pro. Wait until you see the final product in all its glory.

Thats_Debatable began with two boards — one maple and one walnut.

Using a miter saw, he cut each board into 12 strips.

He glued the strips to make two separate boards and clamped them while they dried.

He then ran each board through a planer.

Next, he cross-cut the boards into strips and placed them with the grain side up.

Once again, our crafter glued the strips together and held them with clamps.

After the glue dried, he smoothed things out with a sander.

Once that was done, it was time for a nice coat of mineral oil.

Gorgeous, right?

It almost looks too pretty to use…almost.
