If you asked millions of men across the country, they’d tell you that football is the great equalizer.
When this quick-thinking police officer responded to a call about a suicidal civilian sitting on the edge of a bridge, he quickly tried to form a connection with the struggling man that would get him talking instead of jumping.
After discovering that he was a Redskins fan, he began asking about their upcoming games. The officer explained that when he’s driving around town later on, he won’t be able to stop and talk to the man about this week’s game if he hurts himself. At that moment, something goes off in the man’s brain and officers are able to reach out and help him over the side of the railing.
This is a tear-jerker, folks.
We may not always know what someone is going through, but if we can find a simple connection with them and form a relationship, we might just change their life for the better.
