In China, An Inflatable Moon Just Wreaked Havoc On A Busy City

The moon’s pretty great, right? There’s nothing quite as awe-inspiring as looking up into the night sky and seeing the moon in all its glory.

That is, unless, you happen to find yourself in the Chinese coastal city of Fujian. Earlier this week, Typhoon Meranti touched ground. Meteorologists have declared it the most powerful storm of 2016 so far. Since making landfall, it has battered coastal cities and caused massive flooding.

Luckily, no deaths have been reported as of this writing. The only casualty thus far was a giant inflatable moon that had been installed as part of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival in Fujian. Storm winds caused the inflatable to break free and roll through the streets.

Fortunately, no one was hurt by the runaway moon. Just imagine how terrifying it must have been to see that thing barreling down the street.

Luckily, Typhoon Meranti has begun to dissipate. Let’s just hope that we don’t see any repeats of this rogue moon in other cities anytime soon.
