I Don't Know Whether These Lifelike Dolls Are Super Cool…Or Just Plain Creepy

Dolls are known for being creepy, but I’ve never seen any quite as terrifying as the ones created by Russian artist Michael Zajkov.

To say that they are lifelike is an understatement, as the finished products look more like real people than dolls. If you saw them in person, you might think they were about to stand up and say hello.

After working at a puppet theater for three years, Zajkov started making his own dolls.

It wasn’t long before his work garnered worldwide attention.

Each and every one of his creations is so lifelike, it’s a little unsettling.

The dolls start out as a ball of polymer clay. Zajkov molds their faces and adds hand-painted glass eyes.

The next step is to hand-paint fine details…

…and give them French mohair locks.

The finished products are altogether startling.

Of course, the process doesn’t stop there. Every doll needs to have the perfect torso.

They’re also fitted with limbs, complete with 13 movable joints.

For scale, here is the artist with a few of his creations. I can’t decide which one of these dolls scares me the most!

The dolls are dressed in vintage styles that date back to the early 1900s.

While the clothes are beautiful, they also add to the dolls’ overall creepiness.

Ready for a safe trip to the museum or resting in their coffins? You be the judge.

To see one of these dolls come together, check out the video below. It’s a mesmerizing, yet unnerving sight.

Would you want one of these things in your home? As of now, they are not for sale, but there are fans of Zajkov’s work who’d be willing to pay an exuberant amount to own one.

These dolls are incredible, but I hope I never come face-to-face with one of them. I’m 100 percent sure that they come to life when no one is looking.
