When a parent is battling cancer, it’s hard not to fear the unknown.
Will they be there for graduation day? Your wedding? The birth of your first child? No one can say for sure, and it’s this level of uncertainty that makes the ordeal that much harder to cope with. That’s why when 17-year-old Dylan Huffaker’s prom rolled around, he knew exactly who he’d ask.
His mother, Kerry Huffaker. The most important woman in Dylan’s life suffers from terminal brain cancer, so he decided to include her in his special day by giving her the opportunity to get all dolled up and make some incredible memories.
Kerry’s greatest regret is that she won’t be around for her son’s future wedding, which is why Dylan knew that she’d appreciate joining him for a night full of fancy outfits and dancing.
It’s pretty incredible that the whole community came together to make their special night one for the books. Although it’s probably heartbreaking for Dylan to think about the world without his mom, memories like these last a lifetime.
