Instructables user Seamster acquired an old dresser from a friend. The piece was in less-than-perfect condition and required a bit of TLC. In an attempt to revamp it, he set out to restore the piece to its original functionality while also giving it a unique makeover.
After some brainstorming, he decided to take the dresser to a whole new level by attaching old road signs to the drawer faces. Here’s how he pulled it off.
Seamster began by collecting a variety of old road signs.
Next, he stripped the dresser of all its old finish. Many of the pieces had to be sanded and glued back on.
It really, really needed a fresh coat of stain.
He cut his road signs to fit the drawer faces, creating a gorgeous collage.
Our crafter then attached the signs to the drawers with screws and filed down any sharp edges.
Three coats of satin polyurethane later, the dresser looked good as new!
Of course, he needed some nice hardware to match.
