Social experiments have been known to unveil the worst parts of humanity, but they can also bring out the best in people.
David Sadler of Montgomery, Alabama, wanted to stage such a test, so he blindfolded himself and set up a sign asking for hugs. He aimed to spread the message of accepting others as they are and hoped to prove that the South has evolved since its Confederate past.
Though people were curious about what he was doing, nobody walked up to him at first. But all of that changed with one woman’s kind gesture.
What an incredible response. I hope more people (and their kids) pass this message of acceptance on to everyone they know.
