When Hallee Sorenson, a young girl with autism, was stood up on her 18th birthday by all of her classmates last year, she was devastated. Her family was absolutely heartbroken as they watched the girl eat her birthday cake alone, so Sorenson’s cousin Rebecca Guildford took to social media to express her sadness and ask for a bit of help.
Guildford wrote this Facebook post, and the world was so touched by the story that it was shared over 200,000 times.
Packages and cards soon started pouring in from as far away as Afghanistan and Germany.
People closer to home sent flowers and balloons!
The teen received more cards than she could count.
Her actual birthday is July 2, but this early surprise was obviously appreciated!
If you want to get involved, you can still send her cards and gifts!

Social media has its pitfalls, of course, but watching acts of kindness like this one reach all the way around the globe and back again is truly inspiring.
