If your little one is obsessed with one particular theme, you know how fun it is for them to be surrounded by it in their room.
Unfortunately, all of that store-bought furniture can empty your wallet pretty quickly. Redditor makefunofmymom ran into this exact problem when he wanted to get a headboard for his son’s baseball-themed bedroom without breaking the bank.
After finding one online and cringing at the $550 price tag, he decided to use a few bats and make one himself. By the time he was done, not only did he have a seriously cool headboard to give to his son, but he had only spent about $200.
His wife bought the perfect bats online so he could get straight to work on laying them out.
He drilled holes into a length of wood and then cut the board into two pieces that would later hold the bats.
The bats themselves were already cut into halves, so it was a breeze for him to nail them between the boards.
And after he glued the wood pieces together, nothing could pull them apart!
Next, he drilled pocket holes into the backs of the bats and screwed them into the bottom board.
Then it was time to add some more bats facing the opposite direction.
To give it a nice contrast, he chose two different stains.
All he needed to do after that was assemble the rest of the pieces.
How cool is that? Now his son’s room is complete.
Let’s just hope for the builder’s sake that his son doesn’t get carried away with all those bats. If you want to make this for your baseball-loving kiddo, you can find the full instructions here.
