How the Ideal Female Figure Has Changed in the Last 60 Years
It is always interesting to observe the changes the ideals of female beauty undergo with time. Not to mention the ways in which the beautiful half of humanity tries to comply with these notions.
We at FunnyModo were fascinated by the results of a recent study conducted by a well-known British underwear brand!
In the last six decades, the average weight for women has increased by 28 pounds. This is understandable since the average woman’s height has increased by 3.5 inches. As a result, ladies have acquired a more seductive, curvy physique.
Women’s breasts have increased, on average, by 2 sizes. In the 1950s, ladies used to be more petite and had a waist 6 inches thinner than is the norm now. They also boasted a veritable Thumbelina-like foot size: 3 sizes smaller than today’s average. In 1957, women wore size 8 clothes. By 2017, the average size has increased to 12.
The experts who conducted the study believe these transformations are connected with the general improvement of women’s quality of life. Women today make more money, lead a healthier lifestyle, exercise more frequently, and enjoy a better diet.
In 1957, on average, a woman consumed approximately 1,800 calories a day. In 2017, the same statistics stand at about 2,300 calories. So modern-day beauties have every reason to be happy with such changes!
