Yard sale bargains often inspire some of the greatest DIY projects.
You can find some pretty reasonably priced items at local yard sales, but remember this: It’s first come, first serve. You might have to sacrifice a few hours of sleep to get the best deals possible.
When Instructables user Qnlfg81 struck gold and purchased a 25-gallon wine barrel at a yard sale for $10, he knew that the possibilities were endless. Eventually, he decided that he would transform the barrel into a light-up wine rack. If you’re a wine lover, this is the project for you.
Qnlfg81 began by labeling the barrel staves and hoops.
He then dismantled the barrel by removing the hoops with a chisel and wooden mallet.
The wood needed a new look, so he added a fresh coat of stain.
Once the stain was dry, the barrel was reassembled.
He cut away a portion of the barrel where the wine rack would eventually be installed.
Next he added a wine glass holder and mini wine rack that he found at a secondhand store. A string of LED lights added some much-needed flair.
It’s hard to believe that such a beautiful wine rack was made with a yard sale find.
I need one of these in my kitchen ASAP!
