Most airports and airlines suggest that you arrive at least two hours before your scheduled flight. This ensures that you’ll have enough time to get your boarding pass, go through security, and find your gate. Two hours might seem excessive, but it’s always better to be a little early than it is to be late, especially when it comes to air travel.
If you miss your flight, there’s not a whole lot that anyone can do about it. There’s no way to get on the plane once the doors have closed…unless you happen to be very motivated and are okay with breaking several laws to do so, that is. The guy in the video below, who jumped from a jet bridge and ran across the tarmac to catch his flight from Madrid to Gran Canaria, Spain, happens to be that kind of person.
In case you’re wondering, they did eventually let him on the plane.

That is so incredibly illegal. Even more incredible is that he was allowed on the plane, and wasn’t even arrested when the aircraft landed. Officials have not released the name of the man, but we do know that he’s a Bolivian national. While jail time seems unlikely, officials have said he’ll likely face a hefty fine for his actions.
