This Youth Group Built A House For A Single Mom And Her Kids Living In A Dirty Shack

This family’s house was built out of plywood, cardboard, and garbage bags.

That is, until Redditor fleetwoodmax17 and his church’s youth group stepped in. The church group, funded by a private company called Student Reach, replaced this Baja, California, family’s ramshackle dwelling with something permanent. This isn’t the only time, either. According to fleetwoodmax17, the group builds about 70 houses every year, and they have enough volunteers to turn one around in three days or less. The family’s reaction is priceless, and fleetwoodmax17 says that’s what makes it all worthwhile.

Heartbreakingly, four kids and their single mom lived in this shack.

The house did little to protect them from the elements.

But their new home has a ventilation system to help keep them safe in the brutal heat!

The bunk beds are pretty neat, too.

Mom can finally rest her head in comfort knowing that her little ones are safe.

And for that, she’s eternally grateful.

But when you make a child happy…well, there are few better rewards than that.
