Steve Jobs and his biological father, Abdulfattah (John) Jandali

Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in a private clinic in San Francisco. His biological mother, a student named Joanne Schieble, had to abandon the baby because of her parents’ pressure. When they found out she was pregnant by Abdulfattah Jandali, a Syrian, they threatened to disinherit her.

It was Steve’s foster father, Paul Jobs, who instilled in the child a love for electronics. He also paid for Steve’s education, thereby showing all the ways of the world. Steve Jobs himself didn’t like it when his parents were called “adoptive“: ”They were my parents 1,000%.”

Nicole Richie and her biological father, Peter Michael Escovedo

Nicole Richie’s parents raised her up to the age of three and then gave her over to the care of their friend Lionel Richie. This was due to the difficult financial situation of the family: Nicole’s parents simply couldn’t provide her with everything necessary. Six years later, Lionel Richie and his wife, Brenda Harvey-Richie, officially adopted the girl, and Michael Jackson himself became her godfather.

In an interview, Nicole confessed that “My parents were friends with Lionel… They trusted that they would be better able to provide for me.” According to her, she still communicates with her biological mother.

Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx, a famous American actor, was born in Texas into the family of Louise Dixon and Darrell Bishop. Shortly after his birth, his parents gave Jamie away, and he was brought to foster care by Mark and Esther Marie Talley.

He grew up in an African-American neighborhood, and his grandmother had the greatest influence on him. It was she who instilled in the boy a love for the arts, taught him to play the piano, and influenced his decision to study classical music in college.

Ray Liotta

Ray’s biological parents refused him because the family couldn’t afford a child’s upbringing. The boy was adopted by a couple of wealthy Italians, thanks to whom he received a beautiful last name and a new loving family. They also adopted a girl, Linda, so Ray had both parents and a sister.

Coco Chanel

The most famous female fashion designer in the world was born in 1883 in Saumur. Her parents couldn’t provide for their children (in addition to Coco, there were 4 more children), so they spent most of their time with numerous relatives.

When Coco turned 12, her father left the family. She was sent to an orphanage, then to a Catholic monastery, and finally to a boarding school. According to Coco, this is exactly what pushed her to her choice of future profession: forced to wear a gray, dull uniform all her life, she dreamed of dressing all women in the world in beautiful clothes.

John Lennon

Soon after John’s birth, his parents got divorced. His mother found a new man, and the boy was given away to the care of Aunt Mimi and her husband.

According to Lennon, Mimi was very strict and didn’t approve of the boy’s interest in guitar. As John recalled, she loved to say, “Guitar is a good thing, but it won’t help you earn a living!”
