Homecoming King Shocks Everyone By Giving His Crown To A Friend With Cerebral Palsy

Max Akin may be a brilliant high school football player, but it’s what he selflessly did for his friend that’s making him a real star.

Akin, a quarterback at Fossil Ridge High School in Texas, is a hometown hero. In the first half of the school’s homecoming game, he had 200 passing yards, 60 rushing yards, and four touchdowns. But it’s what he did at halftime that is even more impressive.

The senior had been nominated for homecoming king and during halftime his win was announced. But instead of accepting the crown, he turned to his friend K.L. Norwood, who has cerebral palsy.

The football player knelt down on one knee and presented the crown to Norwood.

Listen to these friends discuss the heartwarming moment:

What a great way to honor a friend while showing the power kindness can have on the world.

When asked why he decided to give up his crown, Akin explained that there is no one at the school who lifts everyone up the way that Norwood does. He felt that his friend — who was also nominated — deserved the crown and wanted him to be the one to wear it.
