An Elephant With A Horrendous Snare Wound Gets Saved In The Nick Of Time

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has helped save the lives of hundreds of elephants injured by the greed of poachers and their inhumane traps plaguing large parts of Kenya.

Recently, their dedicated staff came across an elephant bull who had been severely wounded by an awful and illegal snare placed close to a watering hole in the northern part of Tsavo, a national park. The poor elephant’s leg was extremely swollen, and it was clear the cable snare was cutting through to the bone.

The majestic creature was in extreme pain, so they wasted no time calling in the vets. Luckily, they managed to administer timely treatment before the elephant disappeared into the vast wilderness with a possibly life-threatening injury.

Warning: parts of the video are quite graphic.

Despite being illegal, poaching remains an awful reality for a great deal of Kenya’s wildlife.

For more information on how you can help end this cruelty once and for all, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust‘s website.

We can only hope this beautiful elephant’s wounds heal well and that he never has to face the cruelty of another poacher ever again.
